Bio
Decline is getting ready to release a full length project by the name of
Dirty Birds - Expected Develop; a collection of progressive instrumentals
intertwined through featured guest spots from some of Western Canada's
finest. This album will draw from the influences of samples and live instrumentation,
of which will be released on Olive Hour Records in
the Summer of 2007 .
Decline has been hard at work over the past 5 years. With Calgary
famous for it's lack of recreation and entertainment for the average
teenager, and a debilitating injury at hand, Decline utilized
the solitude of 9 weeks to teach himself how to produce and create
hip-hop of his liking.Growth and notoriety came quickly with the formation
of Internal Affairs, a socio-political hip hop outfit, comprised of
2 emcees, Concept and Homage. Together they released two albums that
were received quite well throughout the country. The group found itself
touring across Canada on the strength of these releases and its live
show became a staple of Calgary's music scene with the addition of
a live band accompanying them on stage.
Sharing the stage with indie rap heroes such as Everlast, Buck
65,
Abstract Rude, The
Shapeshifters, Sweatshop Union and Pigeon
John, Decline
found himself opening his music to an audience unlike ever imagined. This
led to albums such as; The Other Side Of The
Moon and Firearms Quartet, production
on releases by a number of solid releases by west coast artists, and
as well as playing at events such as the Shambhala
Music Festival, Cirque
du Soleil's Varekai appearance in Vancouver, United Nation's Day of Celebration
and Much Music's 'Going Coastal".
Decline continues to perfect his craft, recently relocating from Calgary
to Vancouver to attend The Stylus School Of Music. Being in Vancouver has
already allowed him to collaborate with established members of the city's
hip hop community, as well as catching wind of opportunities abroad. That
said, when hip hop is looked at more or less as a marketing tool and a
pop culture icon for todays market, Decline stays motivated to find new
and innovative ways to bend genres and create a melting pot of sounds and
expressions for his listeners to hear.
